Score the sentiment of any financial text

Paste up to 2,048 characters: a headline, a sentence from a news article or an analyst note. You get a score from -1 bearish to +1 bullish and a positive, neutral or negative label. If the text is about more than one company, add the one you care about: "Goldman Sachs cuts Apple price target" is negative for Apple and neutral for Goldman Sachs.

How it works

Built for financial news

The analyzer runs Adanos News Sentiment 5.5, our own model. It is the same model that scores every company in the Adanos news data.

Trained on financial news

The model learned from reviewed news mentions. Earnings beats, guidance cuts, downgrades and share offerings get the direction a market reader would give them.

Scored per company

Name a company or ticker and the model reads the text for that company. A price-target cut is negative for the stock and neutral for the bank that made it.

One score, one label

The score runs from -1 to +1 and always matches the label: from ±0.14 it is positive or negative, in between neutral. The raw model score is shown as well.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Finance Sentiment Analyzer.

What does the sentiment score mean?

The score runs from -1.0 (bearish) to +1.0 (bullish). From ±0.14 it is positive or negative, in between neutral. The label uses the same scale as all Adanos sentiment data.

What kind of text works best?

News headlines, sentences from financial articles, press releases and analyst notes. The model was built for news, so social-media slang such as "to the moon" often reads as neutral.

When should I name a company?

When the text mentions more than one company, or when you want the sentiment for one of them. Use the company name or ticker as it appears in the text. A name works better than a short ticker.

How many texts can I analyze?

The free tool allows up to 5 analyses per hour per visitor to keep it fast for everyone. For higher volume or programmatic access, use the /sentiment/v1/analyze endpoint with an Adanos Professional API key.

Is my text stored?

Your text is sent to the Adanos sentiment engine only to produce the score that you see, then returned to your browser. It is not published, shared or used to train anything.

Can I use this in my own application?

Yes. This page is a live demo of the Adanos finance sentiment API. The endpoint accepts up to 2,048 characters per request, plus an optional company or ticker as target, and is available to Professional accounts. See the API docs for details.

How is this different from the ranking pages?

The ranking and trending pages aggregate sentiment across thousands of posts and articles per ticker. This analyzer scores one text you provide, to check a headline or to test the model before you use the API.
